Rashmi was appointed to the board of National Seniors Australia Ltd (National Seniors) in 2015 and in November 2021, was appointed as a member of the National Seniors Board Appointments Committee. Rashmi received her medical degree from London and obtained post-graduate qualifications in obstetrics and gynecology in Australia. She was a member of the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee for a decade, advising government on drugs for the PBS subsidy, as well as working as a medical educator and GP supervisor. In addition to her academic title in association with the ANU Medical School, Rashmi has provided policy advice to medical organisations and government. Her background includes the role of Chair of the local GP organisation and in 2015, Rashmi was awarded an Order of Australia Medal for her services in medicine and professional organisation.
