Media Release: Seniors Welcome QLD Government Electricity Rebate
The Queensland Government has delivered on National Seniors’ call for an increase to the electricity rebate, with up to $1,372.
NSA CEO Chris Grice said the peak consumer body is pleased to see the government has listened to the needs of Queenslanders, including those most vulnerable.
“NSA called for an increase to the electricity rebate in its 2024 Queensland Budget Submission and is pleased to see the government has listened by delivering direct cost of living relief for all Queenslanders including seniors, pensioners and concession card holders,” Mr Grice said.
“Rising living costs are crippling households, with many going backwards. This especially impacts the wellbeing of vulnerable Queenslanders, many of whom are seniors on fixed incomes.
“At NSA, we continually here from Queensland seniors struggling to pay necessities including utilities, petrol, transport, groceries, and rent. Thanks to today’s announcement, electricity will be one less bill to worry about and Queensland seniors can look forward to a
comfortable winter.
“NSA congratulates the Queensland Government for providing this relief and reminds everyone to look out for the new rebate on their next bill.”
