Do you have a hankering to join the grey nomads? Or maybe you want to revisit a former life hanging out at the beach with friends, staying overnight in the comfort of your own home on wheels?
Would the thrill be even greater if your chance of making that happen also meant supporting National Seniors Australia with its important advocacy work?
You could be in luck thanks to our partnership with Play For Purpose, a 100% not-for-profit charity raffle that helps good causes raise much-needed funds.
First prize in Play For Purpose Raffle 19 is valued at $250,000, and comprises a Volkswagen Crafter Kampervan – the super stylish upgrade to the VW Kombi, which was seemingly ubiquitous at Australian seaside towns in the 1960s and 70s – plus more than $100,000 in cashable gold bullion.
Volkswagen says the Crafter Kampervan “channels the spirit of the iconic Kombi to create the quintessential modern-day explorer”. It’s built in partnership with Australian RV specialist Jayco and engineered to meet local conditions.
Altogether, Play For Purpose Raffle 19 offers $300,000 worth of prizes, including a $15,000 Travel Associates Voucher, a $7,500 Visa gift voucher, and vouchers from Freedom, Ultimate Everyone, JB Hi-Fi, Good Guys and Woolworths.
There is also an Early Bird bonus draw for a $10,000 JB Hi-Fi voucher, which closes on 3 May and is drawn on 4 May, and three exclusive monthly prize draws offering $1,000 gift vouchers, for Woolworths (March), Good Guys (April) and Freedom (May), for AutoPlay members.
If you purchase through National Seniors, we will receive 50% of your $10 ticket price. The rest goes towards the prizes and some of the costs of running the raffle, with other administrative costs met by The Lott.
National Seniors’ share goes directly towards its advocacy work, meaning positive results for older Australians in a range of areas.
Our advocacy includes the Let Pensioners Work campaign, aimed at creating a fairer retirement income system.
The campaign addresses the critical labour shortage in areas such as health and aged care, hospitality and agriculture, and the country’s high rate of pension poverty.
It works by:
- Freeing up as many as 450,000 pensioners to fill labour shortages
- Increasing their physical and financial wellbeing.
- Removing the need for them to report to Centrelink and risk losing half of their income.
As National Seniors Chief Advocate Ian Henschke says, “It will be a win for the industry, a win for the pensioner and a win for the economy.”
National Seniors also advocates for better housing and aged care, energy affordability, reducing out-of-pocket health costs, and fairer concessions for older Australians.
Play for Purpose Raffle 19 opened on 17 March.
